About the artwork

The image of the buffalo is one of the images associated with the countryside and rice fields of Vietnam for a long time. From time immemorial, the buffalo has been closely associated with the development history of wet rice agriculture in Vietnam as well as in Southeast Asian countries. The image of the buffalo symbolizes the industriousness, hard work and persistence of Vietnamese farmers in particular and the image of Vietnamese people in general. In the painting Vung Buffalo, artist Nguyen Ba Cung has painted a fanciful, hidden picture with flexible mixed colors. The way the artist colors the oil painting gives the painting depth as the viewer is drawn to the painting.
